Job summary

Maysteel is seeking a Development Engineer for our on-site Allenton, WI facility. You will lead design and development from concept to production launch, collaborating with Project Engineers, Tech Center, and customers to create robust metal fabrication solutions.

You will apply Creo/SolidWorks to model parts, perform FEA/DOE analysis, develop flat patterns, and manage BOMs. Travel up to 15% is expected; relocation is not offered. Strong communication and cross-functional teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• A.S. in Mechanical Design with 5–10 yrs experience or B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with 3–5 yrs in product development engineering.
• Aptitude in advanced failure analysis and problem solving: FEA, FMEA, DOE, DFMA.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft products and 3D modeling tools (Creo, SolidWorks).
• Sheet metal design and flat pattern experience; BOMs, routings, and MRP understanding.
• Willingness to travel up to ~15% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development engineering on programs from concept to launch.
• Lead problem solving and failure analysis for assigned teams.
• Develop cost effective manufacturing and assembly processes concurrent with design.
• Ensure designs meet customer specifications and participate in design reviews.
• Coordinate with customers, vendors, and cross‑functional teams across cultures.
• Create and maintain 3D models, drawings, and BOMs for prototypes and pilots.
• Support CAD designers and update Engineering Release Notification process.
• Provide technical assistance to other departments as needed.
