Job summary

Launch Potato is seeking a proven data scientist to own the insurance marketplace modeling, from data gathering to deployment. You will build models that match users to the right carrier and optimize media bidding with ROAS in mind.

This remote-first role is based on East Coast hours; you will frame problems with business and collaborate with an ML engineer on production and monitoring. Initially focused on auto insurance, you may expand to other verticals over time.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on applied data science with measurable business impact.
• Models used to drive paid media decisions: spend, bidding or ad serving.
• Proven ability to explain model choices including loss functions and architecture.
• End-to-end ownership: data, deployment and monitoring.
• Expert Python and SQL.

Responsibilities

• Build models to optimize carrier assignment on insurance marketplace.
• Develop buying models behind media spend with ROAS focus.
• Handle data challenges like sparse sessions and late labels.
• Frame problems with business and validate in production with ML engineer.
• Start with auto insurance, expand to other verticals over time.
