Job summary

Gallagher is seeking a Data Engineering Manager to own the design, delivery, and operation of the data platform powering analytics, reporting, and AI. You will lead data engineers, mentor teams, and shape the roadmap while remaining technically hands-on to review designs and unblock engineers.

You will coordinate across multiple teams, manage priorities, and collaborate with data science to align engineering with business goals in a builder-manager capacity.

Qualifications

• A relevant technical BS Degree in Information Technology.
• Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and driving alignment between technical and business objectives.
• 5+ years of experience leading a technical team.
• 7+ years of data engineering experience using Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, ADLS Gen 2, Azure Functions, Databricks, Synapse, SQL Server.
• Experience delivering data foundations for AI or ML workloads (feature pipelines, datasets, embeddings, model deployment).
• Governance of AI use: access control, masking, lineage, auditability.

Responsibilities

• Lead requirements gathering, scope definition, and technical design for data and integrations.
• Set and enforce engineering standards including code reviews, ETL/ELT frameworks, testing, and documentation.
• Own operational health of production data systems with SLAs, monitoring, and incident response.
• Hire, onboard, coach, and retain data engineers across onsite and offshore locations.
• Partner with data science and analytics to align engineering capacity with AI priorities.
