Job summary

Trolley is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to own the data platform, lead the data team, and drive data enabled AI initiatives. This role combines hands-on pipeline work with strategic leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

You will manage a small team today, ensure data quality across ingestion, modelling and reporting, and partner with Finance to support close and reconciliation processes. You’ll shape product data capabilities with APIs and embedded analytics.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in data engineering with ownership of a production data platform.
• Experience leading engineers: managing or mentoring a small team.
• Deep experience with Databricks or a similar lakehouse, SQL, and Python.
• Experience building reliable pipelines from operational databases and SaaS systems.
• Experience supporting finance or accounting processes with data.
• Hands-on use of AI tools in your own engineering work.
• Comfortable as the most senior data person in the company, with autonomy.

Responsibilities

• Lead the data team, coaching and developing the data engineer on your team.
• Own the Databricks lakehouse end to end: ingestion, modelling, quality and cost.
• Build/run pipelines from production platforms, Salesforce, NetSuite and other sources.
• Keep internal reporting in Sigma accurate, fast and self-serve.
• Make pipelines observable and recoverable, with fast fault handling.
• Partner with Finance on month-end close, revenue calculations and cost reconciliation.
• Build data into the product: customer-facing data products and embedded reporting.
• Put data to work with AI: foundations for AI tools with proper guardrails.
