Job summary

The UFL is seeking a Data Engineer in White Plains to own and evolve its data platform, pipelines, and models. You will work with Fivetran, dbt, and BigQuery, driving reliability and scalability for Sales, Sponsorships, Marketing, and Football Operations.

As the first in-house engineer, your decisions shape the data foundation of the organization. You will collaborate across teams, ensure data quality, and establish engineering standards to scale as the league grows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS, IS, or related field.
• 3–5 years of data engineering experience with ownership of production pipelines.
• Ability to read, document, and improve pipelines in an existing data platform.
• Experience with ticketing and revenue-generation platforms (e.g., Ticketmaster/Archtics) and data they produce.
• Strong SQL and Python skills, with production data pipelines experience.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, Cloud Scheduler a plus.
• Experience with dbt and Fivetran for transformation and ingestion.
• Version control and collaborative development (Git/Bitbucket).
• Strong data-quality instincts and independent architectural judgment.
• Excellent communication to translate technical concepts for non-technical partners.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the data platform, pipelines, and warehouse (Fivetran, dbt, BigQuery).
• Operate and maintain core data flows across the business.
• Monitor ETL/ELT and reverse-ETL pipelines and troubleshoot issues, including peak season.
• Lead architecture improvements for reliability, cost, and performance as needs grow.
• Manage data mapping and validation for CRM migrations and source-system changes.
• Extend and maintain dbt models serving as the single source of truth for analytics and CRM.
• Maintain data quality through validation, deduplication, and classification.
• Collaborate with Sales, Sponsorships, Marketing, Finance and Football Ops to translate needs into data solutions.
• Define in-house data engineering standards, documentation, version-control, and testing practices.
• Participate in sprint rituals and maintain visibility of engineering work.
