Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Lead Telecommunications Designer to join our Mission Critical/Data Center BTS team. You will lead telecom design for hyperscale facilities, translating owner requirements into scalable, repeatable solutions while guiding junior designers.

Role covers planning through turnover, with hybrid or remote options and opportunities for career growth in a high-performance consulting firm.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive telecommunications/ICT design experience in hyperscale or mission-critical data centers.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field; equivalent experience acceptable.
• Led coordinated data center telecom design packages including Revit drawings and specs.
• Produced coordinated telecom construction documents in Revit and mentored juniors.
• Strong knowledge of structured cabling, pathways, grounding, labeling, and testing requirements.
• Applied data center topology, redundancy, capacity planning, and deployment considerations.
• Experience interpreting owner standards and coordinating deviations across deliverables.
• BICSI RCDD certification and knowledge of related codes and best practices.
• Excellent communication skills; able to interface with owners, engineers, and operations.
• Willingness to travel occasionally; safety compliance oriented.

Responsibilities

• Design data center telecom infrastructure including cabling, spaces, pathways, and fiber/copper distribution.
• Act as Division 27 technical lead for projects through planning, construction, commissioning, and turnover.
• Evaluate design alternatives for capacity, redundancy, maintainability; document with calculations and narratives.
• Interpret client standards, resolve gaps, document deviations, and coordinate changes across deliverables.
• Coordinate telecom interfaces with design, network, operations, construction, and commissioning teams.
• Develop Revit drawings, schedules, and specifications aligned with client requirements and codes.
