Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to join our team at Fort Meade, MD. The role focuses on directing a small team to install and maintain physical IT infrastructure, including servers, racks, cabling, and UC equipment, in a high-security DoD environment.

The position requires experience in data centers, strong leadership, and the ability to coordinate across engineering, facilities, and network teams. Travel and on-call support are part of the responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Ten years of experience deploying physical IT infrastructure in data centers or facilities.
• Seven years in data center management or as a technical lead.
• Hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting servers, network gear, racks, and cabling to approved plans and codes.
• Experience developing installation checklists, maintenance procedures, and equipment documentation.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% and on-call support during deployments.

Responsibilities

• Direct a 3-person team bridging technicians and cross-functional engineering, facilities, and network architect groups.
• Coordinate hands-on physical infrastructure installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting across environments.
• Work with UC engineers, systems engineers, and network architects to support site deployments from survey to handoff.
• Ensure five 9’s (99.999%) infrastructure availability at facilities.
