Job summary

NY STATE ELECTRIC & GAS CORP is seeking a Lead Analyst – Database Support in Rochester, NY with responsibilities for designing and maintaining SQL databases, data-processing applications, and dashboards to support financial and operational decisions.

The role requires strong SQL, .NET, and Excel skills, with Power BI experience preferred. You will collaborate across IT and business teams to ensure data accuracy and timely reporting for multiple NYSEG and RG&E business areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, data analytics, finance, business analytics, or a related field with seven or more years of experience.
• Proficiency analyzing large data sets from multiple sources and platforms.
• Strong SQL programming and database fundamentals, including dimensional and relational design.
• Ability to build and maintain applications using Microsoft .NET.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to learn and configure new applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and document SQL databases, data models, data structures, code, queries, automated processes, dashboards, and reporting logic to support financial and operational needs.
• Design, build, test, deploy, and support database solutions, data processes, dashboards, and reporting platforms.
• Monitor database and application performance to ensure data availability and timely reporting.
• Maintain dashboards and data visualization tools to translate outputs into actionable insights for users and leadership.
• Ensure accuracy and alignment of dashboards with business rules and reporting requirements.
• Create datasets, recurring reports, dashboards, ad hoc analyses, and data products for evolving priorities.
• Collaborate with business users and stakeholders to gather requirements and align data infrastructure with decision-making needs.
• Support timely processing, payment, reporting, and analysis of critical financial data.
• Coordinate with database administrators, IT teams, vendors, and auditors to resolve data-related needs.
• Evaluate new applications and visualization solutions, recommending practical options.
