Overview

BigBear.ai is seeking a Lead Cyber Security Engineer. This position offers an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in safeguarding BigBear.ai systems. The role involves collaborating with engineers, analysts, and specialists to design, deploy, and support cybersecurity measures that protect against evolving threats. The lead engineer will enhance proactive defense strategies, streamline incident response, and improve security posture, fostering a culture of cybersecurity excellence across the organization.

We are a remote team of high performers. Prior remote experience isn't required, but you must perform well with independence and collaborate asynchronously.

What You Will Do

1. Design cybersecurity measures and access management solutions to protect systems and data.
2. Lead the implementation and support of cybersecurity projects.
3. Advise on security monitoring and response procedures, establishing incident response playbooks.
4. Assist the Security Operations team in responding to security incidents.
5. Collaborate with IT and business units on access control and application integration.
6. Work with the GRC team on standards, procedures, and controls, including exemptions.
7. Support external security audits and assessments.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Need To Have

• Bachelor's Degree + 8-10 years of experience, or
• Master's Degree + 6-8 years, or
• PhD + 3-5 years, or
• 6+ years relevant experience in lieu of degree.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• 10+ years supporting cybersecurity programs.
• Understanding of IT systems, network infrastructure, data architecture, and protocols.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Experience with NIST 800-171, CMMC, or similar frameworks.
• 2+ years in Threat Detection, Incident Response, Threat Intelligence, or Abuse Mitigation roles.
• 2+ years supporting Identity and Access Management products.

What We'd Like You To Have

• Okta Workforce Identity experience
• SailPoint or similar IGA solution experience
• Purview Information Protection or similar data protection experience
• Scripting skills in Python and PowerShell
