Job summary

Hazleton Area School District is seeking a Head Custodian for the Mericle Field House with immediate opening. You will lead custodial staff, manage daily cleaning, maintenance and safety of district buildings, and coordinate events.

The role requires strong leadership, appropriate certifications, and the ability to oversee HVAC and other building systems, while ensuring a clean, safe environment for students and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Pass head custodian eligibility test.
• Demonstrate leadership with multi-person staff.
• Initiative, flexibility and dependability in custodial duties.
• Current First Aid and CPR; Bloodborne Pathogens training.
• Familiar with custodial materials/equipment.
• Knowledge of HVAC, electrical and mechanical operations.
• Computer literacy; ability to use inventory software.

Responsibilities

• Lead custodial staff and manage schedules.
• Maintain safety, cleanliness and efficiency in facilities.
• Oversee building systems and grounds.
• Manage custodial supplies and inventory.
• Train new employees and inspect performance.
• Coordinate events and community use of school facilities.
• Operate theatre lighting where applicable.
