Job summary

Join Delaware Schools Consortium seeks a working supervisor to lead cleaning, maintenance, preventive care, and overseeing school buildings and grounds. Hours vary across day and night shifts to ensure 24/7 coverage and compliance with established guidelines.

The role requires a chief custodian certification (or commitment to obtain within 60 days), substantial experience, and a strong focus on safety, reliability, and professional development.

Qualifications

• Must hold a chief custodian certification (120 hours) or be in process of obtaining it within 60 days.
• Prefer five years of custodian-fireman or maintenance supervisor experience.
• Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of building systems including HVAC (boilers, chillers).
• Demonstrated stable work history and strong work ethic.
• Ability to use sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to interact professionally with staff, students, parents, vendors, and community members.
• Pool Operator Certificate or obtain within a specified time.
• Maintains a current driver’s license.
• Committed to professional development for career advancement.

Responsibilities

• Oversees operation of mechanical equipment and building security 24/7.
• Manages preventive maintenance of motors, equipment, vehicles, and pools as applicable.
• Manages district-wide work order system for planning and scheduling tasks.
• Ensures efficient use of staff time per guidelines and policies.
• Maintains perpetual inventory for cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Ensures compliance with safety and municipal codes (NFPA, OSHA, NEC).
• Prepares administrative reports on activity, inspections, evaluations, and staffing.
• Assigns day-to-day work for custodial staff and subordinates.
• Oversees orientation and training of custodial staff with clear duties.
• Manages special projects and other duties as assigned.
