Job summary

University of Iowa's Iowa Memorial Union seeks a Custodian II to provide a safe, clean, and healthy campus environment. Under general supervision, you will coordinate custodial activities and inspect daily work.

Duties include frontline cleaning, planning schedules, directing staff, maintaining records, and communicating with supervision. Minimum qualifications: one year custodial experience, ability to lift 50 lbs, and reliability.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and follow directions.
• One year of custodial or related experience.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional communication.
• Knowledge and experience using computers, tablets, and related software.
• Ability to move objects (50+ lbs) safely.
• Experience training or supervising staff.

Responsibilities

• Performing front-line custodial duties.
• Receiving written and oral instructions concerning general custodial duties/staff.
• Developing work schedules and directing and inspecting daily work routines of other custodial staff.
• Assisting in planning procedures and work methods and advising or recommending revisions for the purposes of improving the efficiency of operations and services.
• Interviewing and recommending the hiring of custodial personnel as requested.
• Communication with supervisor, leadership team and staff.
• Maintaining records and inventory of multiple items including time records, scheduling, staffing, etc.
• Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any conviction history and will be subject to a criminal background check and credential/education verification.
