Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care Downtown Campus department of Environmental Services is seeking a Custodian to provide a safe, clean and healthy environment for patients, guests, visitors and staff. This position is scheduled to work second shift at Iowa City campus, with starting salary of $17.66/hour.

Responsibilities include general cleaning, trash removal, stocking supplies, disinfecting restrooms, floor care, carpet cleaning and patient room preparation.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and follow directions.
• Previous cleaning experience.
• Experience working in a healthcare setting and with the public.
• Experience using cleaning equipment.

University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center Downtown (located at 500 E. Market Street, Iowa City, IA) is a 194-bed hospital that became part of Iowa’s only comprehensive academic health system on Jan. 31, 2024.

Characteristic Duties And Responsibilities

• General cleaning
• Trash removal
• Stock supplies for cart and custodial area
• Clean and disinfect restrooms/ refill restroom supplies
• Dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and damp mopping hard surface floors
• Carpet cleaning
• Unit/bed making
• Wall & ceiling washing
• Furniture moves and room setups
• Use various types of custodial equipment in performance of duties
• Other tasks and duties as assigned

This position is performed fully on campus.

Percent of time: 60%

Schedule: 3rd Shift Sat-Sun 6pm-6am

Salary: $17.66/hour
