Job summary

Gilbane Building Company in Albany, NY is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead estimating efforts for Civil, Structural, and Architectural scopes and provide CSA expertise across projects. You will mentor junior staff, refine cost models, and coordinate with operations and preconstruction teams to deliver competitive bids.

The role emphasizes collaboration with owners and design teams, comprehensive cost analysis, and knowledge of on-screen take-off software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Structural Engineering or Construction Management.
• 5–10+ years relevant budgeting/estimating experience on large projects.
• Experience with CSA estimating and multi-disciplinary coordination is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads estimating efforts for Civil, Structural, and Architectural scopes.
• Acts as CSA estimating SME and provides guidance on constructability and market conditions.
• Performs detailed takeoffs and develops cost estimates for civil, structural, and architectural systems.
• Reviews geotechnical, civil, structural, and architectural drawings to identify risks and cost drivers.
• Mentors junior estimators in CSA estimating practices and pricing strategies.
• Develops site services costs with operations and preconstruction teams.
• Develops cost models using Gilbane’s costing software.
• Tracks material and labor price fluctuations and escalation.
• Coordinates with clients and project teams to align bid deliverables.
