Job summary

NIA Community Services Network is seeking a Cornerstone Director for a Brooklyn-based community center. The role oversees day-to-day operations, staff supervision, and program scheduling to serve youth, families, and seniors across a network of NYCHA sites.

The Director leads programming, community partnerships, and compliance with funder contracts, licensing, and reporting requirements, ensuring high-quality services and community impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of 5+ years in youth services with supervisory experience.
• Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Must qualify to be named Director on DOH SACC license or be willing to obtain SAC credential.
• Excellent leadership, supervisory, and team-building skills.
• Effective communicator with strong public speaking and writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
• Experience with crisis intervention and trauma-informed approaches is a plus.
• Computer proficiency and ability to handle administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

• Manage on-site staff, including assistant directors and instructors, security and maintenance teams.
• Assist with recruitment, hiring, and ongoing staff development; provide performance feedback.
• Develop educational and recreational programming aligned with funder and contract requirements.
• Drive participant recruitment and retention for after-school, evening, and weekend services.
• Oversee DYCD Cornerstone database; report attendance, participation rates, and funder targets.
• Handle administrative tasks, ordering, inventory, and on-site food pantry operations.
• Represent NIA on-site and cultivate relationships with partners and sub-contractors.
• Ensure facility maintenance and compliance with NYCHA and DYCD requirements.
