Job summary

CAMBA, a community-based organization in New York, seeks an Assistant Director for the Cornerstone program. You will provide leadership, supervise staff, coordinate youth, adult, senior, and community programming, and ensure contractual goals and reporting timelines are met.

Successful candidates will oversee staffing, safety compliance, partnerships with NYCHA and schools, and oversee events and community initiatives. Evening/weekend hours required and a commitment to an inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; OR 18 credits completed in education/a related field; OR a certificate in Youth Studies and two years of applicable experience
• Associate’s degree in child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation or a related field AND two years direct experience working with children under 13 years, including supervisory experience
• New York State OCFS credentials: Administrator Credential OR School Age Child Care Credential OR related rocess

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership, supervision, and day-to-day management of the Cornerstone program in accordance with DYCD and CAMBA expectations
• Oversee planning, implementation, and evaluation of all program components (youth, adult, senior, community programming)
• Ensure the program meets contractual goals, performance targets, enrollment benchmarks, attendance expectations, and reporting deadlines
• Supervise, coach, evaluate, and support Assistant Directors, Program Coordinators, Group Leaders, administrative staff, and other program staff
• Ensure the program operates in compliance with DYCD regulations, SAC licensing requirements, CAMBA policies, and safety protocols
• Develop strong relationships with NYCHA, schools, community partners, and local stakeholders
• Oversee staff scheduling, site coverage, timekeeping approvals, and daily program operations
• Manage incident response, crisis management, de-escalation, and leadership communications
• Oversee participant recruitment, retention, outreach, and community engagement
• Monitor program quality through observations, meetings, feedback, and improvement
• Ensure accurate documentation, data entry, attendance, incident reports, monthly/quarterly reports
• Collaborate with CAMBA leadership and fiscal staff on budgets, purchasing, inventory, and expenditures
• Coordinate special events, trips, workshops, performances, showcases, and community initiatives
• Foster welcoming, inclusive, safe environment for participants and staff
• Attend trainings, meetings, events, and DYCD/CAMBA professional development
• Evening and weekend hours required
• Other duties as assigned
