Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) invites you to join the Food Service team at the Denton State Supported Living Center as a Cook III. You will perform advanced food production, supervise a shift, prep and serve meals for residents, and ensure diets and textures meet prescribed standards.

As shift lead, you’ll train staff, enforce sanitation and safety rules, monitor inventory, and help improve kitchen operations.

Qualifications

• One year of food preparation experience required.
• 6 months' experience cooking in a health care food service setting preferred.
• Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Attend to regular shift schedule and overtime as needed.
• Review menus and prepare food according to diets and textures.
• Lead, train and supervise kitchen staff during shifts.
• Ensure proper sanitation, safety and food handling in accordance with guidelines.
• Monitor inventory and communicate needs for repairs or replacements.
