Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Elkhart, IN seeks a Cook to prepare meals per approved menus for residents with special dietary needs. You will supervise dietary staff in the absence of leadership and ensure safe, efficient kitchen operations.

The role requires experience in dining services, ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain within 60 days), and the ability to stand for long periods, lift 50 lbs, and work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must have dining services experience.
• ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to read, write and perform simple calculations.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift 50 lbs.
• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present menu items according to standard recipes.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area at all times, including floors.
• Record temperatures and monitor refrigerator/freezer temps twice daily.
• Supervise dietary staff in the absence of the Dining Services Director.
• Attend required in-services and staff meetings.
• Observe safety practices and proper food storage, labeling and dating.
• Assist in training new dietary employees.
