Job summary

Qualifications

• Education typically acquired through completion of high school.
• Cook 5: No specific type or amount is required.
• Cook E6: One year of experience in quantity cooking and food preparation.
• Cook 7: Two years of experience in quantity cooking and food preparation, including one year equivalent to a Cook E6.
• New hires to the MDOC will complete training as part of onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Oversee prisoner workers in the preparation and service of meals for prisoners and staff.
• Lead worker role in the facility kitchen, ensuring meals are prepared to MDOC standards and served correctly.
