Job summary

Aramark Correctional Services is seeking a Lead Cook to prepare meals according to standard recipes and safety guidelines. You will supervise staff, set up stations, and ensure quality and sanitation across all culinary tasks.

Responsibilities include training, portioning, equipment operation, and maintaining clean work areas while delivering excellent service to guests and clients in a correctional facility environment.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisor experience in a related role preferred.
• Experience as a cook or related role required.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision required.
• Proven knowledge of basic food preparation, cooking methods and safety regulations.
• Demonstrates basic math and counting skills.
• Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and assigns daily work activities to staff and supervises the completion of tasks.
• Trains and guides staff on job duties, food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Cooks and prepares food following production guidelines and standardized recipes.
• Sets up workstation with ingredients and equipment.
• Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling.
• Safely uses all food utensils including knives.
• Operates ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers and other kitchen equipment.
• Bakes, roasts, broils, steams and uses varied cooking methods.
• Arranges, garnishes, and portions food following established guidelines.
• Stores food properly and maintains safety standards.
• Cleans and sanitizes work areas and equipment.
• Maintains excellent customer service and positive guest interactions.
• Follows Aramark safety policies including sanitation and asset security.
