Job summary

The Grill at Torrey Pines, part of Evans Hotels, seeks a Lead Cook I to prepare menu items in a designated station with care for ingredients, technique and teamwork. You will follow recipes, maintain station organization, and uphold safety and cleanliness standards.

As a leader, you will mentor other cooks, ensure timely service for breakfast, lunch and dinner at The Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, and represent the kitchen with professionalism while supporting guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of relevant experience and/or training.
• Previous similar position in a hotel or similar business entity preferred.
• Availability to work on weekends and holidays is required.
• Must be able to attain a San Diego County Food Handler certification upon hire (training provided).
• Ability to maintain a friendly, professional, team-oriented demeanor under stress.

Responsibilities

• Maintains fresh, organized menu in place at all times to ensure the highest level of cookery.
• Acts as a teacher and assists other cooks in achieving goals, fostering teamwork and camaraderie.
• Prepares and presents menu items in specific station.
• Maintains high standards of cleanliness per Health Department and hotel requirements.
• Follows recipes and techniques consistently and with pride.
• Maintains professional appearance and attitude at all times.
• Rotates stock to maintain freshness and reduce waste.
• Undertakes other responsibilities as directed by the chef.
