Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission seeks a Cook I to support the Food Service department at Brenham State Supported Living Center. You will prepare and portion meals, follow special-diet guidelines, and maintain sanitary kitchen operations in a day shift.

You may supervise staff as needed, assist with stock and deliveries, and ensure compliance with safety policies while supporting residents with nutritious meals and respectful service.

Qualifications

• Experience in food preparation work.
• Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent.
• Ability to work weekends and overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule.
• Prepares food using proper equipment and utensils and in a sanitary manner.
• Prepares and portions food for special diets following procedures.
• May supervise assigned employees in food preparation and service.
• Maintains sanitation and safety in dining and kitchen areas.
• Receives delivery of food and supplies from vendors as needed.
