Job summary

Signode Industrial Group seeks a Senior Electrical Controls Engineer to design, program, test, and document automation systems including strapping, case handling, packing, and robotics. You will lead teams, establish standard architectures, and mentor junior engineers in PLC programming best practices.

With a strong background in Allen-Bradley hardware, you will collaborate with product managers and customers to translate market needs into robust, safe, cost-effective controls solutions.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in electrical engineering, automation, computer science or related field.
• 7+ years of experience designing control systems for capital equipment.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN.
• Experience with warehouse automation or automatic storage and retrieval systems preferred.
• Experience with Internet of Things, IO-Link, and/or Smart Devices preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review customer requirements and design controls for equipment.
• Design and test electrical, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical components and systems.
• Architect software and define programming tasks for team execution.
• Create electrical schematics in AutoCAD/EPLAN and program PLCs, HMIs, and robots.
• Coordinate with manufacturing to ensure conformance to design and customer specs.
• Lead small/medium development projects and coach junior engineers.
