Job summary

Mindscope is seeking a Lead Controls Engineer to own end-to-end automation projects in a fast-paced, tech-driven Waukesha facility. You will architect PLC logic, RAPID programming, and vision integration for complex robotic cells across aerospace, medical, and consumer goods sectors.

You will lead site deployments up to 30% of the year, partner with mechanical teams, and drive performance through Siemens, ABB, and Rockwell toolchains.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing, programming, and deploying custom automated machinery.
• Rockwell Studio 5000 and ABB RAPID programming experience.
• Strong knowledge of servo motion, machine vision, and industrial networks.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Automation Engineering preferred.
• Willing to travel up to 30% domestically and globally.

Responsibilities

• Lead controls authority across full project lifecycles from concept to client sign-off.
• Program, simulate, and refine ABB RAPID paths using RobotStudio.
• Develop master PLC logic and HMI apps with Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk.
• Configure industrial networks and fieldbus communications (EtherNet/IP, PROFINET).
• Design and implement safety architectures (Category 3/4, safety PLCs).
• Collaborate with mechanical design to integrate vision systems and EOAT.
• Lead site deployments up to 30% of the year and perform SAT.
