Job summary

IREN is seeking a seasoned Controls Engineer in Childress, Texas to lead design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of automation systems for our HPC data centers.

You will work with mechanical and electrical engineers, apply DCIM tools, and develop a coherent controls philosophy to ensure reliable operation and efficient interconnection of subsystems. The role requires 10+ years in controls/automation within heavy industry and a strong grasp of PLC/SCADA systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in a technical engineering discipline with 10+ years in controls/automation in heavy industry or mission-critical settings.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical cooling systems, sensors, actuators, and signal types.
• Understanding of PLCs, SCADA, interconnection and communication protocols.
• Knowledge of control theory (PID, ON/OFF with hysteresis).
• Familiarity with industrial networks and communication protocols.

Responsibilities

• Act as first point of contact for project development of data center controls and automation for HPC data centers.
• Understand mechanical and electrical systems and develop a coherent controls philosophy for seamless integration and operation.
• Lead or participate in design, construction or commissioning across the project life cycle as the key controls contact.
• Understand platforms/tools used in control of facilities, including DCIM, energy management, alarm management.
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to ensure proper system integration and translation into control designs.
• Provide input to ensure new equipment integrates into enterprise monitoring platforms.
• Stay current with new controls technologies to keep data centers at the leading edge.
• Coach and train staff on theory, design and use of control systems and tools.
