Job summary

AEP seeks a highly skilled professional to operate and maintain gas/oil fueled electric generating units and related equipment, directing outside operators and contractors. The role includes developing procedures for abnormal conditions and leading teams in complex troubleshooting.

You will perform technical work in control systems, instrumentation, and environmental compliance, conduct analyses, and ensure safe, efficient plant operation in a busy multitasking environment.

Qualifications

• Experience operating and maintaining large gas/oil fueled power generation equipment.
• Ability to direct contractors and coordinate with outside personnel.
• Strong focus on safety, OSHA compliance and environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate ethical behavior and safe work practices for operations and environmental health.
• Start-up, operation, control, synchronization and shutdown of turbines, HRSGs, condensers, pumps and auxiliaries.
• Monitor alarms, adjust parameters, and log data in accordance with standards.
• Maintain and monitor boiler water chemistry and plant cycle chemistry as required.
