Job summary

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with 30 vocational credits and 3 years of construction experience; NM driver's license and COP within 6 months are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 30 credit hours vocational training in carpentry, plumbing, or welding.
• Three years of construction experience.
• Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or ability to obtain by date of hire.
• Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead, plan, train and review the work of staff responsible for construction, maintenance, repair and remodeling of facilities, parks and equipment.
• Plan, direct, and participate in all construction activities; oversee construction of facilities and structures including buildings, parks, sidewalks and drive pads.
• Train assigned employees in rough- and finish-carpentry, cement-finishing and welding methods, procedures and techniques.
• Supervise the use, care and operation of construction equipment including dump truck and small equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints and sketches to ensure that construction conforms to project specifications.
• Perform and oversee other construction tasks including fence installation, painting, plastering, welding and plumbing.
• Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
• Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures.
