Job summary

City of Albuquerque seeks a journey-level carpenter to support construction, maintenance, repair and remodeling of City buildings and facilities. You will perform skilled carpentry and cabinetry tasks, reading blueprints and using woodworking machines.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED plus a two-year apprenticeship in finish carpentry or cabinet making, and two years of general carpentry experience. Valid NM driver license may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED supported by a two-year apprenticeship in finish carpentry or cabinet making.
• Two years of general carpentry experience required.

Responsibilities

• Construct, repair or remodel buildings and attachments using wood, concrete, brick or metal.
• Perform rough and finished carpentry including framing and maintenance.
• Build cabinets, desks, shelving, and display cases using carpentry shop equipment.
• Remodel offices and install customized shelves, cabinets and counters.
• Install doors, hardware, locks and window components; replace glass as needed.
• Install suspended ceilings, drywall and paneling; install shade structures or playground equipment.
• Construct concrete forms and pour/finish pads, footings and walks.
• Read blueprints, shop drawings and sketches; estimate and purchase materials.
