Job summary

Los Alamos Public Schools is seeking a Maintenance Technician III Carpenter Facilities to perform skilled maintenance across carpentry, roofing, plumbing, electrical, electronics, locksmithing, and related trades. The role covers building, grounds, and equipment maintenance for school facilities.

Typical duties include operating heavy equipment, repairing systems, and maintaining safety standards. Requires a high school diploma and 3 years' maintenance experience; NM driver’s license preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: Completion of the twelfth grade, with additional training in a specialized building trade.
• Three years of maintenance program experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment and machines for maintenance, construction and repair.
• Paint surfaces and equipment; prepare and finish surfaces.
• Perform locksmith duties: keys, lock changes, security procedures.
• Electrical duties: inspect/replace bulbs, wiring, test systems.
• Plumbing tasks: cut/thread pipes, install fixtures, maintain systems.
• Carpentry: install/repair doors, walls, furniture.
• Roofing: install/repair roofing materials and flashing.
• Welding/brazing on facilities and equipment.
• Install and maintain playground equipment; fabricate parts.
• Pour cement and lay asphalt for grounds and structures.
