Job summary

City of Albuquerque is seeking a skilled Construction/Facilities Technician to participate in building renovation, maintenance and remodeling of municipal structures and parks. You will perform a range of tasks including carpentry, masonry, painting, plumbing and light electrical work to support city facilities.

The role emphasizes reading blueprints, following safety procedures, and coordinating with crews to complete projects on schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED supplemented by 30 credit hours of specialized training in construction, carpentry, plumbing, or welding.
• Two years general construction experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of construction tasks involved in renovation of City buildings and facilities, including carpentry, masonry, painting, plumbing and basic electrical work.
• Read and follow blueprints, sketches and diagrams to ensure project specifications are met.
• Repair and remodel building interiors; install flooring and wall coverings; perform sheetrock work and finish carpentry.
• Adhere to safe work practices and procedures and operate hydraulic and power equipment.
