Job summary

Bartlett Cocke General Contractors in Texas is seeking a Safety Manager to lead the field safety program on projects and maintain an accident-free work environment. You will work with project teams to implement safe practices, conduct audits, write reports, and coordinate with subcontractors.

The role requires a 4-year safety degree or equivalent, at least 5 years of construction safety experience, OSHA 500 certification, and strong communication skills. This is a full-time on-site position.

Qualifications

• 4 year occupational safety/health degree or equivalent combinations of training and related experience.
• At least 5 years construction safety experience.
• Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local, and Company regulations.
• Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures.
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to train and educate others.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety program over the safety department with the project team to maintain an accident-free work environment.
• Assist project team by suggesting safe practices.
• Participate in pre-construction and handoff meetings.
• Conduct onsite safety assessments as part of constant monitoring process.
• Document all safety violations or unsafe conditions and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
• Assist the project team in completing weekly jobsite safety audits.
• Conduct safety orientation for all project employees to the safe practices required on the project and by the Company.
• Ensure all Company safety policies and procedures are understood and implemented.
• Educate project personnel through on-the-spot training and toolbox talks.
• Complete accident reporting and investigation as needed.
• Accompany inspectors on walk-through tours.
• Coordinate project safety programs with subcontractors.
• Assist the superintendent in investigating property damage and personal injury complaints.
• Develop job-specific emergency plan and communicate through orientation.
• Maintain safety files and records.
• Communicate the Company vision, values, and goals (the BC Way).
• Coordinate with superintendents and craft workers on safety practices.
• Track incident information for the Safety Incentive Program.
• Schedule safety training for jobsite personnel.
• Assist in developing and improving safety department procedures.
• May supervise Safety Assistants or Safety Coordinators.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's degree in occupational safety/health
