Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager for our Frederick, MD office. You will oversee construction materials testing for commercial and residential land development, leading field staff and coordinating tasks across earthwork, concrete, and steel testing.

The role requires 3–5 years of PM/field experience, a civil engineering or geotechnical background, and client interaction skills. Equal opportunity employer; ESOP and strong benefits package included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or geology preferred.
• 3–5 years of field or project management experience in geotechnical engineering or construction materials testing.
• Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage construction materials testing projects including earthwork, concrete, foundation, masonry, steel, EIFS, and pavement testing.
• Lead technician staff, coordinate field activities, review results, and ensure compliance with specs.
• Prepare bids/proposals, attend pre-bid meetings, and interface with clients and site teams.
• Conduct on-site inspections (soil bearing, compaction, concrete, steel) and attend client meetings.
