Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Capitol Services (HCCS) is seeking a Project Manager in our Washington, D.C. office to lead construction materials testing for commercial and residential development.

You will manage, coordinate, and supervise technician staff across earthwork, concrete, foundation, masonry, steel, EIFS, and pavement testing, and you will prepare bids and attend pre-bid meetings. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of field or project management experience in geotechnical engineering or construction

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or Geology is preferred.
• Preferred 3-5 years of field or project management experience in Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing, or Construction Project Management.
• Engineer in Training or Registered Professional Engineer preferred but not required.
• Experience managing a construction project backlog between $1-3 million.
• Experience estimating labor requirements for various types of construction projects.
• Some business development experience is a plus and must be able to interact/communicate with clients.

Responsibilities

• Manage construction materials testing services for commercial and residential land development projects.
• Coordinate, supervise, review, and direct technician staff for earthwork, concrete, foundation, masonry, steel, EIFS, and pavement testing.
• Prepare and submit bids and proposals and attend pre-bid meetings.
• Conduct on-site project inspections including soil bearing and compaction tests, concrete, and steel inspections.
• Meet with clients and attend site meetings as necessary.
