Job summary

HNTB is seeking a Field Inspector to support daily inspection efforts on multiple complex infrastructure projects in Virginia. You will prepare daily/weekly reports, review pay estimates, sketch data for field engineers, and mentor junior inspectors.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED with 9 years of construction-related experience, state certifications, and the ability to read complex plans. Proficiency with Word and Excel is preferred; willingness to work in varied conditions is

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED with 9 years construction-related experience.
• All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.
• Able to read and interpret complex plans, specs, and shop drawings.
• Willing to work shift schedules and in inclement weather, heights, confined spaces, and marine environments.
• Driver's License and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, observe, document, and verify work in progress to ensure compliance with schedule and plans.
• Advise contractor superintendents to ensure conformance with plans and specs.
• Perform complex calculations, constructability and biddability reviews, and measure completed work.
• Review Inspector's daily reports and manage labor/equipment data.
• Conduct on-site material testing and produce as-constructed sketches.
• May lead daily assignments, mentor staff inspectors, and train employees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
