Job summary

The City of Fort Worth is seeking a Construction Inspection Supervisor in the Transportation & Public Works Department to supervise inspection staff and oversee projects relating to utilities, storm drainage, and street paving.

Requirements include an associate degree in a related field, four years of public works inspection experience with supervisory responsibility, and a valid driver’s license. Proficiency in standard software and strong attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in construction-related field.
• Four years of public works construction inspection experience, including one year in a lead/supervisory role.
• Valid driver's license.
• Experience with project documentation and quality control processes.

Responsibilities

• Supervise construction inspection staff, assignments, evaluations, training, and compliance with policies and safety requirements.
• Train and mentor inspectors for skill development and career progression.
• Plan, schedule, and oversee inspection services ensuring compliance with specs and regulations.
• Review plans, schedules, quantities, and working days; coordinate resolutions and mitigations.
• Inspect work and materials for quality; review logs; monitor warranty projects; address deficiencies before closeout.
• Review change orders; verify quantities and cost estimates against market conditions.
• Serve as liaison with contractors, design professionals, utilities, regulators, City departments, and the public.
• Maintain project records, GIS, daily status, and reporting per retention policies.
• Respond to customer complaints and after-hours safety issues, propose procedural improvements.
