Job summary

The City of Fort Worth is seeking a Construction Inspector I to supervise and participate in inspections of utility installation projects, material testing, and paving restoration to ensure conformance with City standards and policies.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and will have a valid driver's license and a high school diploma. Preferred experience includes interpreting plans, HDD, and CRM/Accela proficiency, with opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Preferred: experience interpreting plans for Franchise Utility Construction.
• Preferred: paving restoration experience including HMAC and Concrete.
• Preferred: HDD (Directional Drilling) experience.
• Proficiency with Word, Outlook, Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Accela, and CRM systems.

Responsibilities

• Inspects utility installations and final restoration for compliance with City standards and policies.
• Liaises between contractors, utilities, and the general public regarding construction projects.
• Reviews plans and traffic control for assigned projects prior to inspection.
• Prepares daily inspection route list.
• All utility inspections are entered into Accela and non-inspection activities into CRM.
• Observes work during progress and upon completion finals the project.
• Coordinates construction inspection activities with other city departments.
• Performs routine and final inspections on utility construction projects.
