Job summary

City of Fort Worth is hiring a Construction Inspector I to supervise and participate in inspections of utility installation projects, material testing, and paving restoration to ensure conformance with City standards and policies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and eager to learn.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license. Preferred experience includes interpreting franchise utility plans, paving restoration, HDD, and familiarity

Qualifications

• Experience with paving restoration, HMAC and concrete preferred.
• Experience with Directional Drilling (HDD) preferred.
• Proficiency with Accela, CRM, and MS Office applications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect product installation and final restoration in utility projects for conformance with City standards.
• Liaise between contractors, utilities, and the public regarding construction projects.
• Review plans and traffic control prior to inspection.
• Prepare daily inspection route lists.
• Enter inspections in Accela and non-inspection activities in CRM.
• Oversee progress and finalize projects upon completion.
• Coordinate inspection activities with other City departments.
• Perform routine and final inspections on utility construction projects.

Pay Range: $24.67 - $30.83/hr.

A Construction Inspector I job is available with the City of Fort Worth TPW / Transportation Management ROW division. The selected candidate will be responsible for supervising and participating in inspection of construction projects involving utility installation, material testing, concrete and asphalt paving restoration for conformance with City standards and policies. The ideal candidate should be responsible, dependable, and extremely detail-oriented individual who is willing to learn.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the interpretation of plans involving Franchise Utility Construction
• Paving restoration experience, HMAC and Concrete
• Experience with Directional Drilling (HDD)
• Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Accela Experience, CRM-Customer Relationship Management System

The Construction Inspector I Job Responsibilities Include

• Inspects product installation and final restoration in a variety of Utility projects for compliance with City standards and policies
• Establishes and maintain effective working relationships; acting as a liaison between contractors, utilities, and the general public with respect to various construction projects
• Reviews plans and traffic control for assigned projects prior to inspection
• Prepares daily inspection route list
• All utility inspections are entered into Accela and non-inspection activities into CRM
• Observes work during progress and upon completion finals the project
• Coordinates construction inspection activities with other city departments
• Performs routine and final inspections on utility construction projects

Physical Demands

Medium work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
