Job summary

The City of Fort Worth Water Department is seeking a Water Systems Supervisor to supervise and coordinate repair and maintenance of water and wastewater plant equipment. This role requires a high school diploma and at least five years of related experience, plus a valid Texas driver’s license.

On-site work with potential evenings and weekends is required. Responsibilities include leading staff, coordinating materials, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of responsible experience in the repair, service, and maintenance of equipment and systems.
• Valid Texas driver’s license.
• Must pass Drug Screen, Physical screening.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, oversee and participate in day-to-day operations by prioritizing and assigning work orders, conducting performance evaluation, termination and disciplinary decisions.
• Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of subordinate employees responsible for maintenance, repair, installation, and technical services for the potable water distribution, wastewater collection system, raw water, and reclaimed systems.
• Participates in the requisition of materials and supplies, and compiles specifications for equipment and contracts.
• Inspects the maintenance, installation and repair of collection and distribution system and equipment. Provides advice and assistance to maintenance staff as necessary.
• Maintains, repairs, and operates stationary diesel or tri-fuel engines; maintains and operates electrical distribution systems and generator distribution stations as necessary.
• Coordinates water/wastewater plant maintenance activities with those of other divisions and outside agencies and organizations; provide staff assistance to senior management personnel; prepares and presents staff reports and other necessary correspondence.
• Maintains a variety of records and documentation of plant facilities and equipment including repairs, rehabilitations, equipment failures and preventative maintenance; prepares updates and status reports of project progression.
• Performs other related duties as required
