Job summary

Bexar County Public Works seeks a Construction Administration Engineer to lead the Construction Administration Section within the Engineering Services Division. You will supervise field investigations and ensure adherence to plans, specs and codes while coordinating with contractors and public stakeholders.

Applicants must hold a Civil Engineering degree with six years’ experience, possess a Texas PE or be able to obtain within six months, and have a valid Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• Six years of practical engineering experience in management, design and construction of capital transportation projects.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas or able to obtain within six months.
• Valid Class C Texas driver’s license.
• Pass pre-employment background check, a pre-employment physical and a drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and administer the construction of County flood control and roadway capital projects.
• Oversee engineering design and surveying services, subdivision development, and floodplain management; assist with design issues.
• Supervise Capital Project Engineers, Civil Engineering Assistants, Construction Inspectors, Engineering Technicians, Survey Crew, and Interns.
• Prepare and/or review plans, specifications, estimates and contracts for construction projects.
• Sign and affix the engineer seal to Public Works design projects.
• Coordinate development and construction administration with contractors, utilities, landowners, developers, governmental agencies, and the public.
• Respond to construction, engineering, land development and flood plain requests from government officials, County staff, and the general public.
• Monitor contracts to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget.
