Bexar County is seeking a Construction Administration Engineer to manage the Construction Administration Section of the Engineering Services Division in the Public Works Department.

You will assist the Engineering Services Manager and County Engineer with administration of construction projects, supervise design preparation, oversee surveying data collection, and help shape section policies while directing field investigations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and six years of management, design and construction experience.
• Considerable knowledge of civil engineering practices and procedures involved in construction plan design.
• Ability to supervise multiple projects simultaneously and communicate effectively.
• Must be a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas or obtain within the first six months of employment.
• Must have a valid Class C Texas driver’s license.
• Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance.
• May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek.

Responsabilités

• Supervises and administers the construction of County flood control and roadway capital improvement projects.
• Supervises various aspects of County engineering design and surveying services, subdivision platting and development, and floodplain management; and assists County Engineer with design and construction issues.
• Supervises Capital Project Engineers, Civil Engineering Assistants, Construction Inspectors, Engineering Technicians, Survey Crew, and Interns.
• Prepares and/or reviews plans, specifications, estimates and contracts for construction projects.
• Signs and affixes official engineer seal to Public Works design projects.
• Conducts field investigations to evaluate construction design problems and recommends solutions.
• Coordinates development and construction administration of project designs with contractors, utility companies, land owners, developers, governmental agencies, and the general public.
• Responds to construction, engineering, land development and flood plain requests from government officials, County staff, and the general public.
• Monitors contractors’ contracts to ensure that the projects remain on schedule and within budget.
• Attends public meetings on Capital Projects and Public Works issues.
