Job summary

Bechtel’s Manufacturing & Technology team in Houston, TX is seeking a Field Engineer to support concrete scope on a major API facility project. You will coordinate reinforcement, formwork, embeds, placement, curing, finishing, and turnover in partnership with superintendents, engineers, quality, and procurement.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of concrete placement, formwork systems, reinforcement, embeds, curing, finishing, and protection practices.
• Strong working knowledge of ACI and CRSI standards (301, 318, 117, 305R, 306R).
• Ability to lead readiness reviews to ensure IFC drawings, quantities, embeds, materials, permits, inspections, quality documentation, and field constraints are resolved.
• Proficient in controlling quantities, quality, progress, and field reporting using BSAP and project systems.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex interfaces with engineering, construction, quality, procurement, subcontractors, and suppliers; communicate risks and solutions clearly.

Responsibilities

• Leads development and review of Installation Work Packages (IWPs), field material requests, and short interval plans for complex concrete activities.
• Interprets construction drawings, specifications, and concrete placement plans; identifies constructability concerns and drives resolution.
• Coordinates across teams to confirm readiness for concrete pours including formwork, reinforcement, embeds, access, equipment, permits, inspections, and sequencing.
• Develops quantity takeoffs and installed quantities for concrete and related items; communicates trends and risks to supervision.
• Ensures materials, inspection documentation, procedures, and information are available to support planned pours.
• Monitors concrete placement, vibration, curing, protection, and finishing to meet specs and quality expectations.
• Coordinates inspection and testing activities including pre-pour inspections and strength testing; follows up on deficiencies.
• Provides guidance to less experienced field personnel on field application.
