Job summary

Amazon is seeking a visionary Lead Concept Industrial Designer in Massachusetts to translate the Design Director's aesthetic vision into the form language of next-gen robotic platforms. You will own early ideation, volumetric packaging, and proportional development, iterating at high velocity before handing off to technical surfacing.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in design/innovation, research & development, or related experience.
• Experience directly collaborating with engineering teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, or related field.
• Expert-level proficiency in Gravity Sketch, Rhino, Vizcom Ai, SubD modeling, Blender, Plasticity, or Alias Concept with demonstrated ability to sculpt balanced forms quickly.
• Portfolio demonstrating exceptional sense of proportion, visual hierarchy, and unified aesthetic across multi-component devices.
• Intuitive grasp of dynamic kinematic clearances, packaging volumes for motors/electronics, and thermal management considerations.
• Proven ability to maintain clean layer organization, logical parting line intent, and deliver clean STEP/mesh files for downstream surfacing.

Responsibilities

• Rapid 3D form and volume exploration for robotic enclosures and chassis.
• Establish a cohesive visual brand language across the robot.
• Explore and resolve panel interaction, clearances, and motion ranges.
• Deliver design-to-surfacing envelopes with clear design intent.
• Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering, Motion/Robotics, and Hardware leadership to integrate components into a functional envelope.
