Job summary

Barrington Stage Co seeks an experienced music director and composer to collaborate with students in an afterschool setting. You will teach vocal parts and harmonies, accompany rehearsals with live piano, and guide campers through performances.

You will compose original music with student input, arrange music to fit voices, and lead activities, with a flexible, creative mindset to support the show students want to create.

Qualifications

• Experience directing music in an educational setting.
• Piano expertise with experience accompanying young singers.
• Creative and flexible mindset to support student-led shows.
• Ability to compose underscoring and arrange music for student voices.
• Strong sight-reading and fluency in music notation.

Responsibilities

• Music direct the culminating show and lead rehearsals.
• Teach all musical solos and harmonies to campers with live piano accompaniment.
• Compose original music with input from students.
• Lead activities and games as camp counselor.
• Develop responsive plans to support performance skills.
