Job summary

University of Dayton Research Institute is seeking a CNC Programmer to provide programming support for advanced aerospace components. The role focuses on developing and posting CNC programs for 5-axis and multi-axis machines, preparing setup sheets, and identifying process improvements within post-processing workflows.

The candidate will collaborate with machinists and engineers, maintain tooling logs, and travel to various sites as required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in technical field with 8 years of related experience or 10 years machining/programming experience.
• Minimum five years of experience using MasterCam CAM software for CNC programming.
• Minimum 1 year experience programming turning and mill-turn operations including 7-axis machines.
• Strong understanding of G-code and GD&T.
• Familiar with aerospace materials and ISO 9001:2015 certifications and methodology.

Responsibilities

• Define, post, and optimize CNC programs for multi-axis machining (5-axis centers, lathes, and multi-axis lathes).
• Develop and manage set-up sheets, machining work instructions, and tool lists.
• Communicate process improvement opportunities for post-processing activities.
• Maintain tooling logs and coordinate tooling/material purchases.
• Collaborate with machinists to solve complex manufacturing problems including set-ups and non-conformances.
• Contribute to evaluation of next-generation manufacturing tech related to CNC programming.
• Work within existing CNC programming processes with support from Process Engineering.
• Travel to customer sites or job locations as needed.
