Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Sector is seeking a Milling Machine Machinist 4 (2nd shift: 3:30 PM – 12 AM) in Redondo Beach, CA. The role focuses on CNC turning/milling for complex aerospace components, with live tooling and mill-turn centers.

You will set up, program, and inspect parts per NG Space procedures, ensuring quality and schedule adherence. You will mentor junior machinists, collaborate across functions, and participate in lean improvements while utilizing Mastercam, Vericut, CATIA, and NX

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED plus 6 years of CNC Programmer or Machinist experience.
• Proficiency with Mastercam, Smartcam, or Gibbs.
• Experience in Swiss-type turning (e.g., Tsugami) and/or mill-turn operations.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings with GD&T.
• Must be able to work 2nd shift (3:30 PM to 12 AM).

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC milling and turning machines and manual equipment to produce aerospace hardware.
• Mentor junior machinists and apprentices; collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Planning and Production.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives (5S, lean) and optimize processes using CAM tools.
• Validate part conformity with precision measurement and maintain safe, audit-ready work areas.
