Job summary

Vast Space Llc. in Long Beach is seeking a CNC Mill Machinist on the Second Shift to support the development of hardware for space station systems. You will set up and operate multi-axis CNC mills/lathes, read setup sheets, and verify parts per the in-process inspection plan.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in CNC machining, experience with HAAS and Fanuc controls, and knowledge of GD&T and G-code. You may run up to two machines and collaborate across shifts for quality parts.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of CNC machining experience.
• 5+ years with CNC machines with HAAS and Fanuc controls.
• High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
• Working knowledge of GD&T
• Working knowledge of G code.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate multi-axis CNC Mills/Lathes.
• Read and interpret setup sheets and tool lists.
• Ability to check parts according to in-process inspection plan (optical comparator, caliper, micrometers).
• Understand speeds and feeds.
• Communicate with machine shop leadership about quality issues.
• Perform first article inspections.
• Deburr all parts to ensure quality.
• Read and intercept aerospace drawings.
• Perform basic maintenance of the machine (clean chips, coolant, fluids).
• Teamwork and handoff workload to following shift.
