Job summary

TPI Staffing, Inc. in Houston seeks an experienced CNC Machinist to operate and set up CNC lathes and vertical milling machines. The role requires reading blueprints, programming and editing CNC codes, inspecting parts, and ensuring quality and production standards.

The ideal candidate will lead 2–3 operators, maintain a safe work area, and perform basic preventative maintenance. Experience with Haas, Okuma, Mazak is a plus, and strong math and GD&T skills are essential.

Qualifications

5+ years CNC setup experience with lathes and vertical milling machines.
CNC programming experience is required.
Experience reading and editing G-code is required.
Strong blueprint reading and geometric tolerance interpretation skills.
Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, fixtures, inserts, and other CNC accessories.
Experience with Mastercam, Haas, Okuma, or Mazak is a plus.
Strong basic math skills including geometry and algebra.

Responsibilities

Operate CNC machine controls, load parts, and prove programs.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, manuals, specifications, and sample parts.
Program and edit CNC machines, including G-code.
Determine dimensions, tolerances, sequences of operations, and setup requirements.
Inspect finished parts for quality and conformance to specifications.
Use precision measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers.
Lead 2–3 operators and help maintain productivity and quality standards.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment.
Follow written and verbal instructions.
