Job summary

Software Placement Group seeks an experienced CNC Operator Lead for its Bay Shore, NY production facility. This hands-on leadership role oversees CNC machining operations, guides operators, and promotes safe, efficient production.

The ideal candidate brings strong CNC operating and programming skills, experience with machine setups, and the ability to help the team meet schedules and quality standards. This is a full-time on-site position.

Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC mills, CNC lathes, stamping presses, and fabrication equipment in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of Fanuc controls, CAM programming, and CAD software (SolidWorks or similar).
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T requirements.
• Experience with precision measuring instruments, tooling setups, and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with PLCs, welding techniques, and fabrication processes.
• Ability to use hand tools for assembly and fabrication tasks.
• Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor CNC operators while ensuring adherence to safety procedures and production schedules.
• Oversee the setup, calibration, and operation of CNC mills, lathes, stamping presses, and other machining equipment.
• Program CNC machines using Fanuc controls and CAM software based on CAD drawings and GD&T requirements.
• Inspect components using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Verify finished parts meet blueprint requirements and quality specifications.
• Coordinate material handling, tooling setups, and fabrication activities to maintain efficient workflow.
• Troubleshoot CNC equipment and mechanical issues, partnering with maintenance personnel on repairs.
• Maintain machine operation records, production logs, and quality reports.
• Identify opportunities to improve machining processes, productivity, and quality.
