Job summary

Divergent is seeking a Lead CNC Machinist (CNC Lead) to coordinate daily machining operations across a rotating 3-4 shift schedule. You will mentor peers, ensure quality, and drive process improvements in a fast-paced shop environment.

The role requires 5–8 years of CNC experience with multi-axis capabilities, proficiency in Siemens/Heidenhain controls, and strong GD&T skills. Expect ownership from setup through production and participation in continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of CNC machining experience with multi-axis expertise.
• Experience leading peers, coordinating workloads, and mentoring junior technicians.
• Advanced proficiency with Siemens and Heidenhain controllers.
• Strong understanding of GD&T and machining optimization.
• Experience troubleshooting complex machining processes and setups.
• Ability to operate independently with technical ownership.

Responsibilities

• Act as a floor lead, coordinating peer machinists and maintaining production across shifts.
• Mentor less-experienced team members and support the supervisor as needed.
• Promote cross-team collaboration and model best practices on the shop floor.
• Lead setup and operation of 3-axis, 3+2, and 5-axis machining centers.
• Support machining for prototype and production hardware with advanced GD&T.
• Drive cycle time reduction, tooling performance, and process stability.
• Collaborate with engineering to improve manufacturability and efficiency.
• Own machining operations from setup to stable production and ramp activities.
• Maintain setup sheets, tooling docs, and machining records; assist inspections.
