Job summary

Evolution Tool Machining in Lapeer, MI seeks a CNC Programming Lead Machinist for a second shift (4:00 PM – 12:00 AM) with optional extended 10-hour shifts. You will translate complex requirements into optimized toolpaths, select tooling and workholding, and drive quality on a as-needed basis.

You’ll lead second-shift activities, mentor machinists, and collaborate with engineering on manufacturability. Expect continuous improvement in feeds, speeds, and process efficiency while maintaining safe,

Qualifications

3+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience.
Proven ability to program independently, including creating and troubleshooting CNC programs.
Deep knowledge of G-code/M-code, tooling, feeds/speeds, and workholding.
Experience using CAD/CAM software.
Fluency reading blueprints, GD&T, and technical specs.

Responsibilities

Independently program CNC equipment using G-code/M-code and CAD/CAM.
Set up, operate, and troubleshoot machines; select tooling and workholding strategies.
Interpret blueprints and GD&T for dimensional compliance.
Lead and coordinate second-shift activities to meet targets.
Mentor machinists with programming and setup challenges.
Inspect parts with precision instruments and verify conformance.
